The decision follows widespread condemnation of the West Bengal Police's perceived inaction regarding complaints of oppression and sexual harassment against women by certain local Trinamool Congress leaders in Sandeshkhali.

While the state administration officially describes the transfer as routine, many are skeptical, considering Biswajit Sapui's reassignment just three months into his tenure at Sandeshkhali Police Station.
